A full scholarship is just the beginning.
TFFT identifies orphaned and vulnerable children across Tanzania and enrolls them in boarding schools where they have a stable place to live and learn. We cover the full cost: school fees, supplies, personal needs, and medical insurance. Beyond that, we stay close. Our team supports each scholar through health challenges, family difficulties, and the transition from school to working life.
A central principle of the program is that success looks different for each child. We build support around individuals, not cohorts.
Getting the right child into the right school.
We identify eligible students through a selection process that uses the Poverty Probability Index alongside community referrals and our own field assessments. We then place each child in a boarding school suited to their academic level and personal circumstances. TFFT scholars also benefit directly from our Teacher Training Program, because many of the teachers in our partner schools are trained by us.
CAREER COACHING, MENTORING, AND LIFE SKILLS
School is preparation. Life comes after.
Our Life Skills program runs throughout a student's time with TFFT. It covers social and emotional development, practical skills, and career planning. Through our alumni support program, we stay connected to graduates, helping them access career opportunities, further training, and a peer network. Many TFFT alumni now work as teachers, run small businesses, or hold leadership roles in their communities.
HEALTH AND PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORTLearning depends on wellbeing.
Many of our scholars come from households with serious, ongoing difficulties. Health problems and emotional distress affect whether a child can focus, attend class, and complete their studies. Our Health and Psychosocial Program provides health insurance, healthcare access, and individual counseling for every scholar we enroll. This is a core part of the program, not an add-on.
PARENTS AND GUARDIANS
A child's home matters as much as their school.
Our Positive Parenting workshops give parents and guardians tools to support their children's education and wellbeing. Sessions cover communication, family dynamics, and how to create conditions at home that help children learn. We treat parents as partners in each scholar's journey.
